What does “MathType 6.x deprecation” mean?
MathType 6.x deprecation means that, from October 1, 2023, versions previous to MathType 7 will no longer be commercialized and maintained, and technical support will be limited to addressing only critical issues of those users who already own a valid license. Our Technical Support team will make reasonable efforts to assist users facing such critical issues, however, resolution cannot be guaranteed.
What is the risk of continuing with previous versions of MathType?
Continuing with MathType 6.x poses certain risks. As a deprecated version, Wiris will not introduce new features, fixes or enhancements to it. For example: as the product’s digital certificate is no longer renewed, your computer security could be at risk.

Will I lose my previous work?
No, you will not. By upgrading to MathType 7, you can seamlessly retain all your work and continue editing just as you did with previous versions of MathType.
What if I am not pleased with this version?
MathType 7 retains all the functionalities and user interface elements of MathType 6.x. However, in the unlikely event of not being satisfied with MathType 7, you can continue using a previous version as long as it is compatible with your operating system and third-party applications, and you have a valid perpetual license. Should I warn my organization about this?
Yes, it is important to inform your organization about MathType 6.x deprecation. Upgrading to MathType 7 will ensure compliance with the latest standards and maintain a secure math editing environment.

MathType 7 is compatible with Mac computers until macOS 10.14 Mojave. We invite you to try this version, that includes MathType Add-in for Microsoft 365 (compatible with Mac), for 30 days for free. Contact our Technical Support Team (support@wiris.com) to get the installer for macOS.
